Liverpool John Lennon Airport

“Liverpool had been operating an ATC recording system that was facing obsolescence and support issues. Despite this Phoenix Recording Systems supported us in keeping it running during a challenging period. At a critical point, they supplied loan hardware to ensure continued service while also providing a clear path forward for the latest Phoenix Veristore X system.

The project was well managed, with regular communication throughout. Phoenix identified potential risks early and offered practical solutions to ensure that all required circuits and communications lines were captured. Requests for information to support our safety assurance process were answered promptly, and with the system already proven at several other UK airports, achieving CAA compliance and approval was straightforward.

The FAT, installation and SAT all proceeded smoothly, and any minor issues that arose were resolved quickly. Thanks to careful planning and the Phoenix team’s experience, the transition itself was seamless, and the system went into service without disruption.

Post-implementation, Phoenix has continued to provide timely support with configuration changes and requests. The new Veristore X represents a clear improvement over the previous system: the ability to begin playback while files continue downloading has reduced investigation times, and the system’s reliability gives confidence to both our ATE and ATC teams.

This project was delivered in a short timescale while replacing an increasingly unreliable predecessor, and Phoenix Recording proved to be a dependable partner throughout. For anyone considering an upgrade to their recording system, we would be happy to host a visit and share our experience.”
